Sorrento Rentals
A popular tourist destination located along the Amalfi coast, Sorrento can be reached easily from Naples and Pompeii, as it lies at the southeastern end of the Circumvesuviana rail line. The town overlooks the bay of Naples, as the key point on the Sorrentine Peninsula, and many viewpoints in the city allow sight of Naples itself (visible across the bay), Vesuvius, and the island of Capri.
Exclusive Italian Villas is located in one of Sorrento’s main squares, Piazza Sant Antonino, and just above the main harbour, Marina Piccola. The property is located in a xx siecle building that used to be owned by a noble Italian family. Its central location offers guests convenient access to shopping districts, entertainment, recreation, fine dining, and beautiful scenary.
You can reach Sorrento by ferry, hydrofoil, train, bus, and car.
Alternatively, we can arrange on request a private transfer with a car or a boat charter.
On the shimmering sapphire Bay of Naples lies a town mostly forgotten by tourists yet just as beautiful as its more popular sister cities: Sorrento. While the town itself has a slower pace and offers seemingly fewer attractions than others, renting a Sorrento villa provides an excellent home base for visiting the varied sights of coastal southern Italy and the Amalfi coast.
The heart of Sorrento is the Piazza Tasso. This bustling town square is easily accessibly from any Sorrento rental and features restaurants, bars, shops and great people watching. Like the rest of Italy, meals are taken later than the average traveler may be used to. Lunch typically starts at 1 PM and dinner at 7 or 8 PM. Avoid crowds by cooking meals in your Sorrento villa or dining out with the locals after 9 PM. Note that most shops and restaurants close for several hours after lunch every day.
The Villa Comunale is a short walk from the Piazza Tasso and offers what are arguably the best views in all of Sorrento. This small park is perched high above the Bay of Naples and offers a shady spot to get some relief from the hot Mediterranean sun.
Sorrento features two art museums, the Museo Correale di Terranova and the Museo Bottega della Tarsialignea. The former is known for its Napoleonic collection and Greco-Roman archeological finds, while the latter highlights the area's centuries-old wood inlay tradition.
Sorrento has only one real beach but you will find it far less crowded than those of neighboring towns along the coast. At the Marina Grande you can soak up the sun while watching fisherman pull up their boats and dine on fresh local seafood.
Exploring the city from the steps of your Sorrento villa is easily done on foot if you can handle the hills. Otherwise try a tour on the Sorrento city train, which you can catch at a stand in the Piazza Tasso.
Naples, Capri, Amalfi, Positano and Pompeii are all within an easy distance from Sorrento and can be reached by boat, car or train. The city is in the shadow of Mount Vesuvius, so your Sorrento villa may well have a view of the storied volcano that destroyed the ancient city of Pompeii and last erupted in 1944.
The town of Sorrento can be the perfect home base for day trips to many neighboring towns and local attractions. Naples is a short boat or train ride away. Plan a day in nearby Pompeii and Herculaneum and tour the ruins of these ancient Roman cities. Hop a boat to the island of Capri or a local bus to the coastal towns of Amalfi, Positano and Ravello for a day trip, then return to your Sorrento villa for a quiet glass of wine and a reprieve from the crowds.
Enjoy your stay on the scenic Amalfi coast in a Sorrento villa rental and have easy access to sites and attractions all along the Bay of Naples. Such an experience truly is la dolce vita.
