Description

PRIVATE STRUCTURE (lease only). The view of the sea, offered from this position, is enchanting. From the first hill close to Capo Mimosa, 3 km from Cervo, one of the most beautiful borghi in Italy, Villa nel Blu dominates the stretch of sea from where the renowned Riviera dei Fiori begins. Different species of plants and colourful flowers adorn the garden of Villa nel Blu, framing the panoramic solarium of the swimming pool from where you can enjoy an extraordinary view of Capo Mele and the town of Andora. Exposed stone adorns the base of the villa, four dormer windows peek out from the sloping roof and the large terraces on the first floor will invite you to go out and gaze "into the blue", from where the name of the villa derives and which originates from the springboard salto nel blu (leap into the blue) in the Antenne trail a naturalistic itinerary located on the hill behind the villa, and famous throughout Europe among mountain-bike enthusiasts. Not only a "leap into the blue", but many attractions both in the hinterland with its attractive medieval borghi of Dolceacqua, Apricale, Perinaldo and Bussana Vecchia, reachable in less than an hour, and along the coast with the renowned seaside resorts of Laigueglia, Alassio, Sanremo and Bordighera and the town of Imperia. Sea and mountains, seafaring tradition and farming culture, fishing products and agricultural fruits, a thousand year-old history and development: this is Liguria with its fascinating implications and contrasts and Villa nel Blu is the ideal base for setting out to explore this extraordinary territory. It will be difficult to escape the temptations of the inevitable gastronomic specialties of the area, seasoned with the highest quality extra-virgin oil obtained from the Taggiasca olive and accompanied with a good glass of Ormeasco or Rossese di Dolceacqua. All services, restaurants and basic shops in Cervo, San Bartolomeo al Mare and Andora can be reached in just a few minutes by car.

Interior

The brick-built veranda on the first floor is the entrance to the villa. From here you enter the living room with large windows that give access to a terrace, followed by a large open-plan area with kitchen with central island and dining table. A bathroom/laundry completes the first floor. The staircase next to the living room leads up to the sleeping area on the second floor, an attic with two double bedrooms, joined by a small corridor, and a bathroom with shower. Down to the first floor again, another staircase descends to the ground floor composed of a twin bedroom with joinable beds, a double bedroom with adjoining sitting room and direct access out to the garden, two bathrooms with shower, one of which en-suite, a large kitchen with dining area and direct access out to the garden.

Park

Once past the automatic entrance gate, four cars can be parked along the gravel driveway inside the property. From here, ten steps lead to the garden of approximately 450 sq m that surrounds the villa. Partially fenced, the garden extends over different levels connected to each other by a few steps and adorned with low stone walls, all in perfect harmony with the landscape of the Imperia area, whose thousand year-old art in dry stone wall construction has been recognized as Unesco heritage. A characteristic stone path leads to the infinity pool having an original shape, surrounded by a solarium area, with a great panoramic view to the east of the coast and the sea, equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas, tables and chairs. The side of the garden that looks south over the sea is characterized by a large area equipped with table and chairs for outdoor dining, communicating with the kitchen on the ground floor. In keeping with the peculiarities of the Riviera dei Fiori and its climate, particularly mild even during the cold seasons, the luxuriant garden is full of plants, flowers and trees characteristic of the area.

Swimming Pool

The infinity pool in the garden faces east with a beautiful view of the sea, Capo Mele and Andora. Its particular shape with an original geometric design that extends for about 30 sq m is surprising. Five large steps allow you to gradually immerse yourself in the pool which has a maximum depth of 1,30 m. Lined in dark graphite grey PVC, the pool is equipped with internal spotlights and salt purification. The solarium platform, in part stone paving and in part teak wood, is equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas, tables and chairs and a hot and cold-water shower. The pool is available from the last Saturday of April until the last Saturday of October.

Location and distances

"Villa nel Blu", lying in a panoramic and peaceful position on the hill behind Capo Mimosa in the municipality of Cervo, is just over 1 km from the Via Aurelia from where you then take an uphill road which, only in the final stretch, has an insidious steep hairpin bend but is basically easily passable for all types of cars. The medieval borgo of Cervo, reachable in 5 minutes, is considered one of the most beautiful Italian borghi and hosts the "International Chamber Music Festival" every summer with a rich programme of events from mid-July to the end of August. Bussana Vecchia (45 minutes away) Dolceacqua (1 hour away), Apricale (1 hour and 15 minutes away) are other unmissable borghi in the province of Imperia; Borgio Verezzi, Finalborgo and Noli (45 minutes away) are those in the province of Savona. But it is Genoa (1 ½ hours away) the Superba, the ancient Maritime Republic that dominated the Mediterranean, reaching its maximum splendour in the 16th century, that is the unmissable destination for a visitor who loves history, art and culture or who wishes simply to see the colours and breathe the scents of the caruggi (alleyways) in its historic town centre, close to the ancient port or to take the children to the Genoa Aquarium, one of the largest in the world. The Grotte di Toirano complex, rich in stalactites and stalagmites and containing prehistoric footprints and graffiti, is another worthy tourist attraction in Liguria (40 minutes away). The border with neighbouring France, and the renowned Côte d'Azur, is only an hour's journey away: Montecarlo, Nice, Cannes and Saint Tropez will not betray the expectations of those seeking the luxury and worldliness of elite tourism.
