Description

PRIVATE STRUCTURE (lease only). villa is a property located in the little hamlet of Luciano where calm and quiet emphasize the unique panorama offered by this villa; you can, in fact, admire the whole coast of Versilia from La Spezia to Lake Massaciuccoli, residence and inspiration for the composer Giacomo Puccini. The beautiful setting is completed by the surrounding hills covered in typical olive trees growing on terraces that slope down to the sea and by the impressive Apuan Alps which still today provide the precious white Carrara marble exported all over the world. This hospitable villa will welcome you with the typical scents of Mediterranean scrub composed of strawberry trees, myrtle, juniper, pomegranates and lavender as well as two old magnolias that will provide you with coolness during your stay. The nighttime panorama will frame your unforgettable dinners on the terrace while the light sea breeze coming up the slopes will render them even more enjoyable. The nearby Romanesque church of Pieve a Elici is the most impressive and resplendent among the religious complexes of Versilia and is an authentic gem of Romanesque art. The visitor who crosses the threshold cannot escape the mystical charm that emanates from the naves of this Temple.

Location and distances

The property is located just outside the district of Pieve a Elici, famous for its monumental Romanesque church, Monte Pitoro where you can find a little shop and the town of Massarosa (about 5 km away), reference point for shops and essential services. It is surrounded by the beautiful landscape of the hills of Versilia, in an area of northern Tuscany delimited by the western slope of the Apuan Alps, by the San Rossore Natural Park with Lake Massaciuccoli (the largest in Tuscany, inside a nature reserve with many species of birds and on which you can make short boat trips) and, finally, by the Tyrrhenian coast which combines fun, culture, beautiful scenery and a sea with stupendous beaches. Just a few minutes from the house are some of the most picturesque places in the area: the seaside town of Lido di Camaiore with its old historic town centre full of artisan shops and Romanesque architecture, like the famous Church of the Collegiate, dated 1278; Pietrasanta, the main town of Versilia and known, besides its seaside attractions, for its high artistic rank as seen in the refined processing of marble, extracted from the quarries of the Apuan Alps, and of bronze, which attracts artists from around the world. Forte dei Marmi, built on the remains of the fort of the same name that lies in the centre of the town, is the top fashionable resort of Versilia with its beaches, luxury shops and famous nightspots. Viareggio, “the pearl of the Tyrrhenian” with its variety of landscapes, both sea and mountain, its fine food and wine and a series of internationally known cultural events and festivals, such as musical events, its magical carnival, literary awards and film festivals. Travelling through the Freddana valley, along the oil and wine route, in a quarter of an hour you come to the beautiful town of Lucca, characterized by its extensive medieval old town and completely surrounded by fortified Renaissance-era walls. In the town, in addition to the Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, famous for its elliptical shape, are various architectural works of great artistic and religious significance such as the Cathedral of San Martino, the Church of San Michele in Foro and the Basilica di San Frediano. Just outside Lucca, about ten kilometres away, we find splendid villas with wonderful gardens such as Palazzo Mansi, the Villa of Paolo Guinigi, Palazzo Moriconi-Pfanner and, finally, the birthplace of the composer Giacomo Puccini, now a museum with documents and mementos of the great maestro. Close to the property, an important appointment with opera is held in his honour every year: the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago where the composer lived for many years and where he composed many of his works. Villa Puccini (open to the public), containing the tomb of the great musician, stands on a hill overlooking Lake Massaciuccoli. Still on the subject of events of a musical character, we would like to mention an unmissable opportunity for music lovers in the picturesque setting of Pieve a Elici, located along the Via Francigena and very close to the property: every summer a series of important concerts are held in the Church of San Pantaleone during the Versilia Chamber Music Festival.
